APW - Seth Thomas, Maiden Lane, 24J, 18S, gold-filled OF recase with beautiful engine turning and engraving detail, white enamel DS dial with Canadian market 13 to 24 hour indications in red, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, capped visible pivots on third and fourth wheels and presumably capped third wheel under dial, ornate two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, s#208896. A very rare watch, the total production of this 24 jewel version of the Maiden Lane is estimated to be only 120 made per the excellent info at Eric Unselt's www.seththomasresearch.com website. This particular example is notable for the superb preservation of its movement's two-tone color and luster.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent two-tone color, fine scratch adjacent upper case screw, few micro-fine scratches elsewhere, upper case screw with some oxide, few very small bits of oxide elsewhere to steelwork; dial with light hl above seconds-register, very small edge flakes under bezel at 12:30 and 5:30; excellent hands, minute with spot of oxide to tip; case shows very little wear, no dents or dings, few small nicks, excellent engine turning and engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; glass crystal with some edge chips internally and externally.
